Why setting Goals matters:

Setting goals is important because it helps to give your life direction. It allows you to create a “north-star” if you will, leading and guiding you and your actions onto what’s next in your life. It gives you focus and tunnel vision, which is so important in today’s world which is full of distractions! And it gives you a purpose in life, it gives you something to chase and work towards while improving yourself at the same time!  It allows you to challenge yourself to try something new, to acquire new skills and abilities, and to become stronger in some way!

Without goals we’re hopeless, stagnant, and are wasteful with our time and energy. Goals tell us how to channel our time and energy so without them we wander around aimlessly.

Setting goals is SO important, it’s also a lot of fun! It gives us hope and excitement for the future and allows our brains to imagine and to push the limits of what we think is possible for ourselves.

Why pursuing our goals matters:

“This is the most difficult part of the goal, but also the most important.”

Setting goals gives you direction, pursuing your goals is taking the daily steps or actions required to get you to your desired destination.

Now, this is where the magic really happens! The pursuit of the goal is where you grow, where you change, where you learn or try something new! The goal itself doesn’t matter as much as who you become while pursuing and achieving your goal. It’s during this time of work and hustle that you acquire new skills and abilities and develop new and stronger character traits like discipline and overcome fear! This is where you’ll get pushed around, experience hardship and different challenges and will (hopefully) persevere and overcome any obstacles. This is the part of the goal that takes courage and requires grit! This is the most difficult part of the goal, but also the most important.

Without pursuit, your goal remains a dream, a fantasy, an idea. With pursuit and frequent action, your goal is a soon-to-be reality!

Why achieving your goals matters:

The achievement itself is proof; proof, to yourself and others, that you can do hard things and that you are a person of your word, if you say you’re going to do something, you do it!!! It shows that you followed through with something, from start to finish. You didn’t get bored and give up, you didn’t change your mind to pursue something else, you kept your tunnel vision on, remained focused, and achieved something awesome! Kudos to you if you actually reach this point, most people don’t.

It’s also a time for celebration! Rejoice in the fact that you just accomplished something new and challenging! Give yourself credit and be proud of yourself! You should also feel humble and grateful remembering all of the hard work it took to get there. This phase should help build up your self-confidence and serve as a reminder of what you’re capable of.

The impact of quitting on your goals:

Unfortunately, most people never make it to the achievement phase, they make it past the goal-setting phase and maybe a few steps into the pursuit and then give up on themselves and on their goals. This is so sad because you’re preventing yourself from becoming who you’re meant to be.

When your goals die, so do all of your hopes and dreams for the future, all excitement is gone and replaced with depression and a series of bad habits. Instead of pursuing your goal because it’s too hard, you go and watch Netflix. Instead of chasing after your dreams you stay on the couch eating unhealthy snacks. You’re literally putting yourself down!

Don’t be a quitter! Don’t give up on yourself or on your goals. Ignite the fire, start taking small baby-steps in the right direction, and reach out if you need help pursuing your goal

I want to inspire and encourage to:

  • Start taking those baby-steps. Start taking action! Everyday you should be doing something that gets you closer towards accomplishing your goal!
